Welcome to the application for majors within the College of Engineering and the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington

The online application will be open for Spring 2025 admissions from:

January 2nd, 2025 (12pm Pacific Time) - January 15, 2025 (5:00pm PT).

Some majors admit for autumn only, some admit for spring only and some admit for both, please check the transfer student deadlines and UW student deadlines for more information. Prerequisite courses for each major are the same for both transfer students and UW students.

You can begin to prepare for the application cycle in advance, by working on your personal statement(s) for your intended major(s) via the prompts linked below.

Get Ready to Apply

Current UW student:

  1. Complete the application requirements for engineering major(s) admission, or Computer Science admission prior to the deadline. Ensure you’re also completing the enrollment requirements to be prepared for admission. Applicants with incomplete coursework should contact individual programs before the application period ends to learn if you can be eligible to apply.

  2. Collect PDFs of your unofficial transcripts from ALL colleges or universities that you have attended (except UW). UW transcripts are NOT needed. All programs require submission of PDFs of transcripts via the admissions application.

  3. Prepare to fill out application sections:
    1. Personal information (name, contact information)
    2. Education summary (list of all colleges attended, dates, GPAs and credits)
    3. Employment summary (list of work experience and dates)
    4. Major selection page (list of majors to which you are applying)
    5. Corresponding courses summary page (list of all prerequisite and other relevant classes required for all majors to which you are applying). Information already available on your UW transcript will automatically be filled in with options to edit. Additions and deletions can be made at any time while the application is open and before the application is officially submitted.


  4. Write a personal statement for each major you’d like to apply to.

Prospective transfer student:

  1. You will need to apply to the UW prior to completing an engineering application. Deadlines for UW applications are significantly sooner than engineering. For details, see the information for Transfer Student Admission.

  2. After applying to the UW and receiving your application acknowledgement letter from the UW admissions office, set up your NetID. This process can take several days. You will use this NetID to log in to the College of Engineering online application.

  3. Complete the application requirements for engineering major(s) admission. Ensure you’re also completing the enrollment requirements to be prepared for admission. Applicants with incomplete coursework should contact individual programs before the application period ends to learn if you can be eligible to apply.

  4. Collect PDFs of your unofficial transcripts from ALL colleges or universities that you have attended (except UW). All programs require submission of PDFs of unofficial transcripts via the admissions application. Please read and follow all instructions regarding transcript submission carefully.

  5. Prepare to fill out application sections:
    1. Personal information (name, contact information)

Student information may be used by other UW groups for purposes such as recruiting.
